Cumberland Island fall camping trip
I have reserved site 9 at sea camp on Cumberland Island. The tent site can hold 3 tents and six people . The campsite is a 1/2 miles hike plus from the boat dock to camping area. You must also reserve your ferry tickets on line at the dates for the ferry are not up yet but I expect they will be up tomorrow. the cost of the ferry for 62 and over is $26.00 all the rest are $28.00 and this is round trip. If you are interested in going please rsvp and make your ferry reservation. If by any chance more than 3 tents/people are interested another person must make a reservation beside myself. I can only make the one. Please rsvp and I am one so two more people can share my site. we will also be staying at the Crooked river campgrounds Thursday night and catch the 0900 boat to the Island. We must be at the visitor center by 0745 Friday morning. so when buying tickets for the ferry you are buying for Friday Oct 26 the 0900 ticket and the return ticket on the 29th of Oct will be for 10:15 AM. There is a fee to get on the Island but with my senior pass I can get 4 people on so will cover whoever is camping with me. Thursday leave the Walmart in Simpsonville at 0900 AM drive to St. marys Ga and camp at Crooked River campgrounds ( I will make rsvp here in about a month) Friday: get up early and be at the visitor center by 0800 at the latest. Drop off our gear and then get in line. Board the boat around[masked]. arrive at the Island at 0945, unload and then hike to the campsite. Saturday: whatever Sunday: whatever Monday: break camp and be at the boat dock by 0930 to catch the boat back to st, mary's and head home. This is the main campsite and has restroom, cold water shower and drinkable water. You must bring whatever you need with you and take it all back over again to include trash. I recommend a backpack and one cooler or a wagon to put things in and a backpack. you only want to make one trip down the gangplank and one getting off. If you think you want to go and there are more than 3 people please rsvp as soon as possible because the sites fill up fast.

What we're about

This site is for people who enjoy hiking, camping, backpacking and other outdoor activities (skiing, kayaking, climbing, whitewater rafting, etc) with other people who enjoy the outdoors. Many of the events will be local hikes that will allow people new to the area and those who have lived her a short or long time to get together in the great outdoors and enjoy nature and new friendships. We are fortunate to live in an area that is comprised of The Upstate, Western North Carolina and The Northeast Georgia area. See you on the trail.
