Website example.com is calling. Their user is currently loading a page and they are asking if we have an article she would be interested in. How much money would we pay for promoting that artcile to her? That is a question Zemanta's (http://www.zemanta.com/) servers answer ten thousand times a second.

The answer needs bo be quick. At most 100ms can be spent gathering the data about the user, the site and previous performance. The data is then fed into machine learning algorithm to come up with the price we are willing to pay to promote a specific article.
