Deluxe Vegan Thanksgiving Lunch at Peacefood Cafe Downtown - Venue #3

Details
Please arrive promptly at 1:00pm. There will be one seating only. Everyone pays for their own meal.
It has long been a tradition for our group to organize a Meetup on Thanksgiving Day, for those of us who are in the city without their family over the holiday.
We also warmly invite those who may be going later in the day to their family celebrations, to start their Thanksgiving Day with fellow vegetarians and vegans.
Peacefood Café Downtown is the newer, sister restaurant of the very popular Peacefood Café UWS. It's bigger & more comfortable at nearly twice the size, easy to get to, and has the same excellent food as the UWS Peacefood Cafe. Whether you've been here before or it is your first time, join us on Thanksgiving for a delectable lunch and wonderful company at Peacefood Café Downtown.
For Thanksgiving, Peacefood Cafe Downtown has a special Thanksgiving Menu. It features two starters: Chestnut Apple Bisque ($9) or Cashew Mushroom Pate ($12.95). If you are looking for a full meal, you can order any one of three entrees for $28. These "entrees" are actually all full meals, and come with all of the following (all included): Homemade Stuffing, Porcini Mushroom Gravy, Mashed Creamy Asian Purple Potato, and Sauteed Broccoli Rabe with Garlic & Lemon. Your choice of any of the following three entrees comes with all of the above, all for the $28 full-meal price: Pan-Seared Lemon Pepper Turkey Un-Cutlet, Peaceloving Lentil Loaf, or Roasted Winter Roots and Vegetables. But if you don't need a full meal or are going to eat with family later, feel free to just order a starter. Only the Thanksgiving Menu will be served on Thanksgiving, it is the first page here (http://www.peacefoodcafe.com/PeacefoodCafeMenu.pdf).
Please arrive promptly at 1:00pm. There will be one seating only. Everyone pays for their own meal.

NYCGo.com lists Peacefood Café as one of NYC’s healthiest restaurants. "Trying to change your relationship with food? This is a good place to start. Indian-spiced chickpea fries are a swell snack, as are the pan-seared mushroom and chive dumplings with ginger-balsamic dipping sauce. … The many facets of each dish breed indifference to animal protein. They do the same thing for refined sugar, especially when it comes to raw cacao mousse pie in a walnut-coconut-date crust. "

New York Magazine's take on Peacefood, "Vegan cafe/diner combo promises to please all but the most devoted carnivore." CBS New York rates it as one of the 10 best restaurants for Vegetarians in NYC: "At this elegant upscale vegan bakery and cafe, baked goods are made with spelt instead of flour. Even their vegan Caesar salad has spelt croutons. The chocolate chip cookie sandwich has a oozy-chocolate pudding like center in the middle of two crispy spelt cookies. Or try the grasshopper variety with a tangy mint filling."

Indeed, Peacefood is also known for their extensive and heavenly dessert menu, including tiramisu, cheesecake, macaroons, brownies, key lime pie, strawberry shortcake, and chocolate chip cookie sandwiches. The Culinary Society of Columbia University says: “Many of the desserts vegans must constantly deprive themselves of were there: cupcakes, tiramisu, and brownies. We ordered both the tiramisu and a cinnamon bun; we were both amazed on how identical each tasted to its dairy filled alternative."

Blackbookmag.com writes:"Chickpea fries, fluffy quinoa salad, cardamom-coconut-banana shakes, roasted squash, raw cocao mousse pie - healthy, invigorating flavors and ingredients are a hit at this vegan cafe/bakery right by Union Square, peacefood's second location. Flanked with long front windows, red and black chairs, an ocean-inspired, soothing atmosphere - peace is exactly what you get here. And peace from the neverending food-guilt that stands after you gorge on cheesy nachos and burgers. Dining out - healthfully. It exists."

The Food Duo writes “Grasshopper Sandwich Cookie: Like a "gourmet" chocolate-peppermint whoopie pie!"
