Cranbrook Institute of Science is hosting an eclipse observing party, and the Warren Astronomical Society is helping!

Join in the spectacular astronomy-themed event on September 27 from 6 to 11:30pm! Come party with our scientists, astronomers, educators and star gazing zealots as we celebrate the lunar eclipse! Visit the planetarium, stop at the hands-on activity tables, visit the observatory, grab a snack in the café and and check out our nocturnal friends – all in one night! Pajamas welcome.

Penumbral eclipse begins at 8:15. Umbral eclipse at 9:07 PM, and is total at 10:15 PM. Total eclipse ends at 11:22 PM (right before they kick us out), umbral eclipse ends at 12:30 AM, and it's all over just before 1:30 AM.

If you are a W.A.S. member in good standing and would like to volunteer (especially if you can bring a telescope for the public to use), contact Diane Hall at outreach@warrenastro.org to get on the list. You can bring one free guest if you volunteer.

Otherwise, Cranbrook is charging a fee for the event: $12 for Cranbrook members, $18 for nonmembers, and an additional $5 surcharge if you don't register in advance. Register here and save! (http://science.cranbrook.edu/lunar-eclipse-party-registration-form)
