Doing interesting things in the background

Details
Being able to do things in the background (running code even when your app isn't in the foreground) is essential for a great user experience in a large proportion of apps.
Windows 8.1 allows us to create background tasks to do just this and Gill Cleeren (https://twitter.com/gillcleeren) will be joining us from Belgium to tell us all about them.
Obviously this is relevant if you're [interested in] building for "big" Windows but it's also relevant if you're building universal apps for the phone. If you're looking at moving away from the Silverlight based periodic background task on Windows Phone then you'll want to know about this.
We'll also be joined by Michael Wawra (https://twitter.com/xmjw) from Twilio who will be showing how easy it is to integrate phone call and SMS functionality into apps and services.
As ever, we'll provide pizza and drink with time for networking so you'll have an opportunity to chat with others who are creating apps too.
Arrive from 6:00 for a 6:30 start
We also be making a BIG announcement about the future of the group...
