I'm excited about Sunday's Q&A Publisher's Event (not THIS Sunday, but NEXT Sunday, March 18) (2:30 at Tir-Na-Nog) (you need to RSVP to assure you'll have a seat). We have 3 speakers lined up. One will discuss formatting your book for publication; another will go over editing tips; and one will discuss safeguards/legalities/protection we all need to know as writers. Each speaker will discuss a topic for 5 to 10 minutes. Then we'll open the floor for questions and open discussion.
ITINERARY FOR SUNDAY, MARCH 18:
-Introductions (from the group)
-Formatting your book for publication
-Legal matters we must consider
-Questions & Answers
I aim to have a Publishing Event once a month if I'm that ambitious, or, more realistically, once a season. I'm hoping for a smaller and more casual group where everyone's questions can be answered. I see that there's a wealth of information from "ya'all" in this group, as well as brand new writers who are looking to learn from the ground up. All are welcome. I'll be lining up speakers, so let me know if you have knowledge to share on the topics below:
FUTURE TOPICS FOR PUBLISHING MEETINGS:
-Marketing ideas for your book
-e-book vs. "book in hand"
-Designing your book cover
-The new "ins and outs" of e-book publishing
-From book to film!
-Traditional Publishing vs. Self-Publishing
-All about referencing your book
-Which self publishing company do I choose?
(Lulu? CreateSpace? Lightening Source? Infinity?, iUniverse, etc)
Let me know if you'd rather meet at Tir-Na-Nog in downtown Raleigh, or Cameron Village library. Or somewhere else.
