Meet your traveling friends! We are building a community of friends, not only from the Southern California area, but from all over the world, who like to travel.
If you love to travel I'm sure you've been there: You decide on a place you want to go to. Maybe you even start planning the trip. Then you try to find friends to go with you, and everyone has all sorts of reasons (excuses...) why they can't go. Or even worse, sometimes you even schedule the trip, and your friends pull out!
Well, that's why we started 1000 Treks Travel Community. We are a group of friends who like to travel. We are welcoming, we are fun, we are inclusive; and, most of all, we want to see everything there is to see and do everything there is to do!

The HMCS Yukon! The 366-foot Canadian destroyer that was sunk in 2000 and now sits in 100 ft deep water, absolutely intact. If you are a diver from California, you have heard of the Yukon. Considered by many as one of the must-do wrecks, and one of the best dive sites we’ll ever dive.
Why is the Yukon a must-do wreck?
- Crystal Clear Waters: Enjoy exceptional visibility, often over 60 feet, showcasing the wreck's grandeur and marine wonders.
- Thriving Marine Life: From vibrant fish schools to playful sea lions, the Yukon is teeming with underwater life.
- Accessible Challenge: At 100-110 feet, it’s perfect for advanced divers craving a thrilling exploration.
- Historic Adventure: Dive into maritime history as you explore the well-preserved remains of this naval giant.
THE PLAN
We are going out of San Diego with the Orion dive boat. CHECK-IN: 1617 Quiver Rd. San Diego 92109. ARRIVE 45 min PRIOR to the 08:30 departure (07:45 at the latest)
The Orion charter includes complimentary AL80 tanks, one tank per dive, and weights are also provided. Nitrox tanks are available for rent for certified Enriched Air Nitrox (EAN) divers, although there are no onboard Nitrox refills. The Nitrox tanks are 32% Nitrox. There is light food available on the Orion, which includes a combination of soups, fruits, bars, pastries, oatmeal, and snacks. Beverages such as drinking water, coffee, and tea are also provided. If you have special dietary needs, you are allowed to bring extra lunch with you.

It’s the last official day of the summer. Let’s close it with a bang with a super-fun day on the lake.
We’re going to Castaic Lake, less than one hour away from LA, and I’m renting a boat for us. You can wake board, ski and tube. They will have all the equipment, and will teach you if you have never done it before. The water will be at 80 degrees! I can’t imagine a better way to end the summer!
By the way, for tubing, you can choose to just be towed, or if you are little crazier, you can have the boat captain try to knock you off the tube! That was one of the funnest thing we have ever done. It is so much fun, we were laughing on the tube. When was the last time you did something so much fun that you were not just smiling, you were laughing??? 😂
By the way, wakeboarding is pretty easy. Most people get it pretty well the very first time they try.
The price will be $95 for skiing, wake boarding, or wake surfing, and 50 for tubing (we can put two people on a tube).

THIS HIKE HAS BEEN CROSS POSTED ON SEVERAL MEETUP GROUPS AND PLATFORMS.
October full moon is a super moon! And guess what? We are going on a super full moon hike to one of our super favorite places, and we are going to bring some super wine and super snacks, and have a little super party under the super moon!
A little trivia for you: Super moon is:
A) When a strange "S" sign appears on the moon. Scientists have been baffled by it for over 20,000 years!
B) A moon dedicated to Superman. They also have Batmoon, Spidermoon, Aquamoon, and Wondermoon.
C) A full moon that coincides with perigee (the time when the moon is the closest to the Earth). A super moon is up to 14% larger and 30% brighter than a regular full moon.
If you want to find out the answer, you're gonna have to come.
We will be going to Mt. Hollywood on Griffith Park from the Merry Go Round parking lot. It's an easy hike, and Mt. Hollywood overlooks Downtown LA's skyline. The view is breathtaking, especially at night, and especially with the full moon over the city!
THE PLAN
We'll meet at the parking lot at 4:30pm. The hike is about 2.5 miles each way, with 1,200 feet elevation gain. Fairly easy.
It should take us 1 to 1.5 hours to get to Mt. Hollywood. Maybe 1:45 if you hike at a slower pace. The moon rises at 5:15pm, and sun sets at 6:32pm, So we'll get to see the sun and the moon in the sky at the same time.
We'll share wine, snacks, and have an amazing time.On this hike, people usually leave when they feel like it, but I'll probably head down at around 9pm.

BRING
- If you are a photographer, bring your good camera, because you will get some amazing pictures.
- A headlamp or flashlight. It's full moon, but we're coming back down at night.
- A good jacket. It can get pretty chilly at night up there.
- Water. At least one liter (I bring two).
- A bottle of wine or whatever you will want to drink and share (juice, soda, water on-the-rocks).
- Something to eat and share. Some good ideas are fruit, cheese & crackers, chips, or anything that is easy to carry and eat on a picnic. But feel free to bring fried chicken, shepherd’s pie, meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy.
- Your own reusable plastic cup, plastic plate, and utensils.
- Paper towels or napkins. Yup, I bet you weren't thinking about that, and would have gone, "oh shit!" when you needed it. Now you will have it. :-)
- A blanket to lay on the ground.
- A plastic bag to bring back whatever trash you produce.DO NOT BRING
- Dogs. Sorry, and we had an incident with a dog on one of our hikes, so, as much as I love dogs, we can't have them on our hikes anymore.
- A bad and whining attitude. We'll already have enough wine. If you are a wino, yes, come! If you are not a wino, but are a wateroo, a sodoo, or a juicoo, you are welcome, too. But if you are a whiner, nope! You stay home! :-D
- Hard liquor. We're not there to get shitfaced and fall off the trail on the way back. That did happen once, which is why I now make sure to mention it. We're there to have a good time. Drinking to the point nobody is having a good time anymore is never our goal.
