What we’re about
Meet your traveling friends! We are building a community of friends, not only from the Southern California area, but from all over the world, who like to travel.
If you love to travel I'm sure you've been there: You decide on a place you want to go to. Maybe you even start planning the trip. Then you try to find friends to go with you, and everyone has all sorts of reasons (excuses...) why they can't go. Or even worse, sometimes you even schedule the trip, and your friends pull out!
Well, that's why we started 1000 Treks Travel Community. We are a group of friends who like to travel. We are welcoming, we are fun, we are inclusive; and, most of all, we want to see everything there is to see and do everything there is to do!
Join us and let's build a community to see the world together!

Portugal, Spain, and Andorra: The Portuguese and Spanish Way
CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS AND TO JOIN
It’s finally done! I’ve worked on this trip for over a year. As many of you know, my entire family is from Portugal and Spain. I wanted to create a Portugal and Spain trip like no other, where we’ll experience the real Iberian Peninsula. I personally designed this itinerary where we will go to the most amazing places in Portugal, Spain, and even the micro-country of Andorra, seeing not only the must-see places, but also the off-the-beaten-path, “real Portugal and Spain.”
HIGHLIGHTS
- Drive across the Iberian Peninsula: from the northeast to the southwest of Spain, and from the southeast to the northwest of Portugal, taking in everything along the way.
- See not just two but three countries: Spain, Portugal, and Andorra!
- Spend two days in Andorra, The Heart of the Pyrenees. This European microstate (just 468 sq km, with a population smaller than Santa Monica!) is the only country located entirely in the gorgeous Pyrenees. It’s an adventure paradise with beautiful hikes, waterfalls, lakes, outdoor adventure parks, and home to the world’s longest alpine toboggan. Fun fact: Andorra is also the only country in the world with two princes as heads of state, and its sole official language is Catalán. What a unique country!
- Eat paella in L’Albufera, Valencia, where paella was invented.
- Visit Valencia Cathedral to see what’s claimed to be the actual Holy Grail.
- Explore the iconic Andalucían cities: Granada, Córdoba, and Sevilla.
- Tour the breathtaking Alhambra in Granada.
- Walk the Caminito del Rey, once considered the most dangerous hike in the world, now restored for safety (but still thrilling!).
- Visit the enchanting Mezquita in Córdoba.
- Watch an authentic Flamenco show in Seville, the birthplace of Flamenco.
- Cross into Portugal by zipline! Yup, you read that right. Check it out!
- Take a hot-air balloon ride over Portugal’s stunning Algarve region.
- See the famous Benagil Cave. You’ve seen it in photos, now you’ll see it in person.
- Kayak at beautiful Ponta da Piedade.
- Go horseback riding on the beach!
- Explore Lisbon and Porto, Portugal’s two most important cities.
- See Palacio da Pena, one of the most beautiful castles in the world.
- Spend a night in an actual medieval castle, Castelo de Óbidos.
- Visit Nazaré, home of the largest wave ever surfed (86 feet at Praia do Norte!).
- Discover Serra da Estrela, the “Alps of Portugal”, including Torre, the highest mountain on continental Portugal.
- Visit Coimbra, one of the world’s oldest university towns (the University of Coimbra was founded in 1290!).
- Explore the Alentejo region, often compared to Tuscany for its beauty.
- Stroll through Aveiro, the “Venice of Portugal,” and ride a traditional moliceiro boat (Portugal’s gondola).
- And more! Seriously, I had to stop writing, otherwise this highlights list would never end. 😂

Location not specified yetCLICK HERE FOR DETAILS AND TO SIGN UP
Keeping up with our tradition of spending Thanksgiving scuba diving in a tropical place, this year we’re going to Fiji — the soft coral capital of the world, and home to the best shark dive in the world!
As always, we’re taking advantage of the holiday and weekends, so you only have to take three days off work, but get to enjoy an eight-day diving vacation in one of the greatest places to dive on Earth.
Our base will be the Coral Coast, close to Beqa Lagoon, where you’ll find some of the best dives on the planet! November is considered one of the best months for diving in Fiji — it's the transition between the dry and wet seasons, so water temperatures are warmer (low 80s!), visibility is excellent (often over 100 feet), and although we might get a little passing rain, we’re likely to have sun most of the day, every day. So, this will be perfect!
The Coral Coast sites are fantastic, and we’ll do many dives there. However, the crown jewel is Beqa Lagoon, which has been called the best shark dive in the world. Check this out!
We’ll also do soft coral dives at Beqa Lagoon. Jacques Cousteau famously called Fiji the “Soft Coral Capital of the World”, and Beqa Lagoon offers some of the best soft coral dives in the country.
If you’re bringing someone who doesn’t dive — your spouse, partner, kids, friends, whoever — we’ve got an out-of-this-world non-scuba itinerary, too. So while you're diving until late afternoon, they’ll be out doing amazing things as well.
