Meet your traveling friends! We are building a community of friends, not only from the Southern California area, but from all over the world, who like to travel.
If you love to travel I'm sure you've been there: You decide on a place you want to go to. Maybe you even start planning the trip. Then you try to find friends to go with you, and everyone has all sorts of reasons (excuses...) why they can't go. Or even worse, sometimes you even schedule the trip, and your friends pull out!
Well, that's why we started 1000 Treks Travel Community. We are a group of friends who like to travel. We are welcoming, we are fun, we are inclusive; and, most of all, we want to see everything there is to see and do everything there is to do!

Fall Colors in Idyllwild
Idlyllwild Campground, 25905 Hwy 243, Idyllwild, CA, USLet’s go enjoy some cool-weather camping and see fall colors in one of our favorite tows: Idyllwild.
Idyllwild is a beautiful little town in the San Jacinto Mountains, about two hours away from L.A. At 5,300 ft, it has perfect mountain weather. So, let’s go!
As always, I got the campground starting on Friday already. People who can take Friday off can head out early and enjoy the day. If you can’t take Friday off, you can head out after work so we can enjoy the evening around the campfire. If you get off work too late on Friday to head up, then you can come on Saturday morning.
On Saturday, we’re going on a hike. One of my favorite hikes ever is in Idyllwild: Tahquitz Peak, a moderately strenuous hike with a beautiful payoff: a fire lookout with 360-degree views of the desert surrounding the San Jacinto Mountains. That’s going to be beautiful: a gorgeous hike through the Idyllwild wilderness and fall-colored foliage, ending with an incredible view from a fire lookout!
Then at night, we’ll sit by the fire drinking hot cocoa with Baileys, making s’moreos, mozzarella sticks, and Jiffy Pop popcorn.
On Sunday, we’ll plan on going on a bike ride around Idyllwild. Idyllwild is famous for biking. It has over 200 miles of dirt roads and mountain biking trails, and it’s also a beautiful town to cruise around. Those of us who have our own bikes can bring them, and those of us who don’t can rent them at Idy-Wild Rides.
I’m planning on going to Lake Fulmor, which is a beautiful lake about 10 miles away, again through the beautiful fall-colored foliage.After that, we might want to walk around town before heading back. We’ll play it by ear.

THANKSGIVING IN MAURITIUS & SEYCHELLES

All right, I decided to go all out and go crazy on this one (as I often do!) and make this another insanely amazing trip.
Initially, we were going to Seychelles only, and that alone would have been phenomenal, but since it’s a long flight and we will be in the Western Indian Ocean, I decided to make this a legendary trip: we are going to start with Mauritius, which is easier to get to, and then go to Seychelles afterward. It will be a little longer than our usual one-week Thanksgiving trips (and you can keep it to one week if you need to), but it will be 1000% worth it!
As always for our Thanksgiving trips, we will have a scuba group that will scuba dive every day, and a non-scuba group that will have activities every day.
HIGHLIGHTS
- See the Underwater Waterfall, the newest natural wonder that is blowing people’s minds. A jaw-dropping sight that apparently can’t be seen anywhere else in the world.
- Swim with dolphins in the wild. Yup, you read this correctly! We are not going to just see them, but jump in the water and swim with free dolphins in their natural habitat!
- Snorkel and scuba dive in some of the most beautiful locations in the world.
- Go on an ATV safari! Yup, you read that correctly too!
- Hike Le Morne Brabant, where we will have one of the most beautiful views of the Indian Ocean from the top, including the Underwater Waterfall
- Hike to stunning waterfalls.
- Go on a breathtaking catamaran day trip.
- Not only horseback ride on the beach, but horseback riding in the water!
- Have a special Thanksgiving Sega show and Creole dinner.
- And obviously, our super cool and super fun activities:
– Ziplining through waterfalls
– Kayaking through mangroves
– Paddle boarding
– Waterskiing, wakeboarding, and wakesurfing
– Kitesurfing. Mauritius is one of the best kitesurfing locations in the world! And you can take classes.
– Surfing
– Pretty much all the fun stuff you can think of!
