Ernest Hemingway - In Our Time

And now for something completely different...
Hemingway's spare writing style contrasts sharply with last month's reading as does the subject matter. This, his first published collection of short fiction, is bare bones even by the standard we come to recognize as Hemingway's. Germs of what would become dominant Hemingway themes emerge here - non-cerebral, masculine narrators, bull-fighting, violence in general, fishing, shabby treatment of women, etc..
