Join us for Tango in OC!

This will be a beginner friendly class, part of the ongoing lessons I am teaching in Laguna Hills. No partner required, we will be rotating :) Try to get there between 8:45 and 9pm so that we can start on time.

9pm to 10pm lesson

10pm to 10:30pm time for socializing/practice/questions/coaching.

$15/student
All ages!

We will focus mainly on Argentine Tango in these sessions, but will also incorporate a bit of American Tango. I almost always mix the two on the floor, and believe it's highly useful to understand both.
Tango is the ultimate lead/follow partner dance. Whether a lead or a follow, you will sharpen skills, and your ability to play your part in the physical conversation that is Tango. We will work on body language, clear signals, subtlety, musicality, and a variety of moves.
After a few of these sessions, I will organize outings for all interested dancers to hit a milonga (public tango dance), at which we will use our newfound skills!
My goal is to create a more all ages Tango scene in OC, where younger, newer dancers feel comfortable exploring this passionate art alongside veteran dancers. This class is open to all ages, teenagers to seniors, so come discover this powerful, beautiful dance, and bring your friends...they will thank you for introducing them to Tango!!!

Alec Marken has been studying, performing, choreographing, and teaching ballroom/social dances for 15 years. He also has 20 years experience in studio dances (tap/jazz/modern/ballet/hiphop), as well as experience in cultural dances (African/Irish). Students speak highly of his ability to teach his student "where they are", helping each individual in his classes overcome challenges or hesitation, enabling them to get in better touch with their body, rhythm, and their ability to move with a partner.

DIRECTIONS:

We're in a business park on Aliso Creek, just south of Pacific Park (towards Alicia). We are between Pacific Park and Alicia, very close to Pacific Park. Pull into the business park with the 24 hour fitness, and drive straight through the roundabout. Continue toward the "back" of the plaza, and turn left just before the last building.
