Golden Gate Bridge Bike Ride (weather permitting)
Details
Alrighty, it's about that time that we ventured over the golden gate bridge on a fun and mostly easy bike ride!
This event is always a gamble with the San Francisco weather but we tend to get lucky.
Route:
We'll depart Fisherman's Wharf at the bike rental location in the morning and ride over the bridge into Sausalito where we'll grab some lunch and check out the small tourist town.
Everyone is on their own for lunch once we get into Sausalito. After lunch you'll have the option to opt out (some people will be ready to head back) and take the ferry back to Fisherman's Wharf.
Those looking for a bit more adventure will have the option to ride into Tiburon with the remaining survivors. Once we hit the edge of Tiburon we'll grab some grub and a drink while we wait to catch the ferry back to the Ferry Building. From there it's a quick ride north along the Embarcadero to the bike rental location.
The Ride:
We'll be stopping to check out some awesome views along the way which include the Marin Headlands and other famous 'tourist hot spots'. The ride itself does have some uphill climbs and while it's open to everyone, it may be difficult for those not comfortable riding a bike!
The ride itself will take almost 2 hours of pure riding but we'll be stopping pretty regularly to gather the group and check out different areas. Because of this, the ride itself becomes quite lengthy and relaxed. I recommend bringing some water and sunscreen!
Every now and then we'll break into two different groups with the first group doing a slightly more challenging course before meeting back up with everyone.
Bike Rentals:
Everyone is responsible for their own bikes. If you need to rent a bike I would recommend checking out San Francisco Bicycle Rentals (http://www.bikerentalsanfrancisco.com/) - this is also the location where we will kickoff from in the morning.
I recommend the 'City Bike' or Hybrid. They also have performance bikes or even electric bikes available.
If you reserve online you'll get 20% off which makes the City Bike price somewhat reasonable. Reservations are also currently recommended due to popularity.
Weather: If it's raining or there are heavy winds we will postpone this event.
Parking: I wouldn't recommend it. Take public transportation or a taxi service if you can. There IS parking in Fisherman's Wharf but it's either extremely hard to find or costs quite a bit to park for the entire day.

Looking forward to doing this ride with everyone,
