About us
*NEW LOCATION UPDATE* September 2026:
New Venue Beginning September 30!
After many great years at Konak, we’re excited to announce that our meetup is moving next door to Hopleaf Bar beginning Wednesday, September 30!
As our group has grown, we wanted a space that’s an even better fit for game night. Hopleaf gives us a dedicated upstairs area with more room for games, quieter conversation, flexible table layouts, and the much-requested better lighting!
We’ll still be meeting every other Wednesday from 7:00 PM to around 10:00 PM, with the same friendly atmosphere, great games, and welcoming community you’ve come to expect. We can’t wait to see everyone at our new home at Hopleaf (right next door to Konak)!
Along with this change, we’ll also be launching a Facebook group so we can continue building our board game community outside of meetup nights. It’ll be a place to stay connected, share games, organize impromptu meetups, and keep everyone up to date on upcoming events.

Looking to meet new people without the typical bar or club scene? This board game meetup is a welcoming community where adults 25+ come together twice a month to play board games, make new friends, and have a great time.
Whether you’re an experienced gamer or just enjoy a casual game night, everyone is welcome. We love games like Catan, Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne, Wingspan, and Azul, but you’re encouraged to bring any board game, card game, or party game you’d like to share. Teach us a favorite, learn something new, or simply join a table and jump in.
Whether you’ve lived in Chicago for years, just moved here, or are visiting, we’d love to have you. Our goal is simple: create a fun, welcoming community where people can relax, laugh, and make new friends.
Come roll some dice, play some games, and hopefully leave with a few new friends.
We hope to see you around the table!

Every two weeks, we meet at 7:00 PM for a free, open board game night. When you arrive, walk upstairs, just grab a seat + food. This is a friendly, teach-as-we-go group with a solid mix of experienced and new board gamers. You're welcome to bring your own games or just yourself. Most games that are played at these events are light-to-medium weight and finish in 90 minutes or less, giving folks the opportunity to play multiple games in an evening. (Heavier 2+ hour games do sometimes make it to the table as well, though, so feel free to bring them!) More involved games tend to be played earlier in the evening, and games later on tend to be on the lighter side. The mix of board game genres on hand changes every week and spans strategy, abstract, co-op, limited communication, party games, and more.
A typical event:
- 7:05 PM: introductions, going around the room and giving each attendee an opportunity to introduce themselves and pitch any games they brought and would like to play.
- 7:10 PM: we set up for the titles with the most interest and get rolling.
- Late arrivals: It’s a bit trickier once games are underway, but we often have tables that can add players mid-game. If none are available, we’ll queue you for the second round of games.
Please feel free to reach out to the organizers with any questions you have regarding event details. Hope you to see you here!
