The Value of Music for Creatives and Makers

Details

Whether you work in video or animation, handle marketing or social media, run an agency, or regularly upload content to YouTube, chances are you’ve had to fit music into your projects. And more likely than not, at some point the music was a last-minute “throw-in” that wasn’t really factored into the original budget. Maybe you bought a $50 track from an online music library, or maybe you used the good old YouTube-to-mp3 converter to get that “perfect” song (which YouTube then used to block your video once it was uploaded).

But what if we told you there was a better, easier, and in the long run, more cost effective way to utilize music in your work?

Andy and Carlin (Waveform) will show you why the right music is so important to the finished quality of any production, and why a little planning on the front-end of a creative project can create huge differences in the outcome. As songwriters and producers who’ve written custom music for the likes of Target, P&G, AVON, and more, they will walk through steps you can take to improve the sonic quality of your work. They’ll also share why custom music is more affordable and approachable than you think. Lastly, they’ll cover how they work as artists in a business-centric space, and what they’ve picked up as best practices that creatives in other industries may find beneficial.

The Meetup is hosted by 301 Original, a photography, branding, and design studio in downtown Columbus, Ohio. 301 Original’s work has been featured in publications including Forbes and GQ, and this event is part of their commitment to fostering a collaborative creative community in Columbus.

Included in the attendance fee, guests will also receive delicious local food and drink from The Pink Flamingo and Buzzsaw Brewing Company.

The Pink Flamingo is a vegan pop-up concept started in late 2017 that aims to create a warm, community environment while serving primarily local, organic produce. Expect a warm, healthy, filling, and delicious meal that will flip your expectations of a plant-based diet upside down.

Buzzsaw’s beer is quickly establishing a reputation around Columbus and the greater Midwest as some of the highest quality beer around. They specialize in Belgian-style beers and also enjoy brewing a range of other craft styles, from IPAs to Sours. They’ll be providing Buzzsaw Blond at the event.

Can’t wait to see you there!
