We meet at a bar in Lincoln Park once a month to discuss that month's book, as well as select the next month's book. Past books range from literary (such as The Secret History by Donna Tartt) to popular (Carrie by Stephen King), from fiction to nonfiction (Last Call by Daniel Okrent), from excellent (A Visit from the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan) to—occasionally—atrociously bad (Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn).
You must be in your mid-20s to mid-30s to join, answer all profile questions, and include a photo of yourself (to recognize you when you come to the meeting and to roughly verify age) for membership approval.
We regularly remove members from the group who haven't RSVP'd or attended in a while. Nothing personal!
The book for July is “The Knife of Never Letting Go” by Patrick Ness. Todd lives in a village on only men where everyone can hear each other’s thoughts. At a month away from becoming a man, Todd senses a dark secret lurking in town. He flees and runs into a girl, but weren’t all girls dead?
Please bring a suggestion for next month’s book club.
