Twilight Kayak Paddle on the Chicago River

Ready to trade the standard Friday happy hour for something a bit more adventurous? We’re taking to the water for a guided twilight kayak paddle along the Main Branch of the Chicago River!
As day turns to dusk, we’ll glide past iconic architecture, catch stunning views of the glowing downtown skyline, and soak in a cool, high-energy vibe on the water with a great group of professional folk.
What to Expect:
- Beginner-Friendly: Whether you’re a seasoned paddler or stepping into a kayak for the first time, this is an easy-paced tour led by experienced guides.
- The Flow: We’ll kick off with a 15-minute safety orientation on land, followed by roughly an hour on the water paddling, taking in the sights, and snapping great photos. Total experience is about 75 minutes.
- What’s Included: Guided kayak tour, kayak and paddle rental, safety briefing, and life jackets.
Important Details & Rules:
👟 Footwear: Closed-toe shoes or sturdy sandals are required while kayaking.
👕 Attire: Wear comfortable, quick-dry clothing (expect a little water splash!).
🔒 Storage: Open-air cubbies are free; locker rentals are available for a small fee for your belongings.
🚫 Tour Rules: No alcohol or drugs are allowed on the water.
🪲 Bug Spray: Twilight on the river is prime time for bugs—feel free to bring or apply eco-friendly bug spray before we launch.
🍽️ Food & Social Plan:
- Before the Paddle: Grab a light snack on your own beforehand so you're energized—avoid a heavy dinner right before getting on the water!
- After the Paddle (~8:15 PM): Since we’ll be a little damp, we’re keeping it low-pressure! Anyone who wants to stick around can walk over to Island Party Hut—an open-air tiki bar right on the Riverwalk steps away. They’re open late with casual counter service, tropical drinks, cold beers, and quick bites (burgers, pulled pork, etc.). No fancy outfits or formal reservations needed!
