Swords and Sorcery in the Land of Nar

Details
Our band of Hero's have left the underground dwarven compound with an army of dwarves. Their intentions toward the surface dwellers was not clear to Hinzelmann, Duin, and Lou, so they asked Commander Fulgrat(nicked named Blady McScarface by the group). He told them that he was told to march to the surface and march on the first city he saw. King Stonehand said all was in place, so he did not worry. Once they hit the surface, they found themselves within a half days march from Harvest City.
As the dwarves approached the city, the gates were opened and cavalry could be seen riding out. At first it seemed a small contingent, then they fanned out to ten abreast, then fifty. It would seem that the Lord Marshal Dupont was not taken kindly to an army marching on his city. When the two forces got within one hundred feet of each other they stopped. After a few tense seconds, the Lord Marshal would invite the dwarves to stay within the walls and host them in his fortress.
As the dwarves marched through the city, they were met with no little bit of shock and surprise, even a little fear and hatred. Once they reached the fortress, the high ranking officers and our hero's were given rooms in the fortress. While there Hinzelmann attempted to use his portion of the God Stone to figure out why they did not find the second fragment with the dwarves. When he did his mind was viciously attacked by an unknown consciousness. He was almost overcome, but managed to fight back and regain his senses. In the brief contact he learned that they needed to quickly head back to the Hartwood.
Leaving as soon as Hinzelmann was able, our group raced to the Hartwood. Once back in they began heading to a certain spot they had crossed before. Lou however, noticed a few oddities and upon checking them out noticed that there were certain markings on trees and a stash of clothes and weapons carved into a tree. Deciding they did not have time to investigate, they continued on.
Once they reached their destination, two old trees whose lowest branches formed a thirty foot arch, they seemed lost. Duin rode around looking for a trap or trigger or anything. Lou decided to poke her sword through the space between the trees, all to no avail. Frustrated Hinzelmann attempted to use the God Stone fragment, and in doing so activated some ancient magic that caused an opaque wall to spring up between the trees.
When this happened, five Darthenians appeared, one wielding another portion of the God Stone. The battle would see magics unleashed, and unfortunately the mighty Duin fall. Our remaining hero's would be victorious, and claim the second piece of the God Stone. Activating this section opened a portal to another plain, and our hero's would step through.
Walking from the gate to a glowing cage, Hinzelmann would open the doors and see and path of alternating colors leading into the darkness and to an area where a pedestal sat with a normal look rock sitting on it. Walking to the stone, Hinzelmann would ask for the Gods to take this power away so it could not be used by those looking to do harm. He was told by the Gods that the power was there and shall always be there. So thinking to sop it from falling into the wrong hands, Hinzelmann asked for it. He was bombarded by so much information it was more than his mind could handle and blacked out.
When our hero's woke up they were outside the cage and back in their own plane of existence.
Was Hinzelmann successfull?
What happened to the Darthenians?
Is it over?
Or is it just beginning?
