What is the journey of a female founder? What does it take to be a female founder? Are you ready to build your own startup?
Demium and Portuguese Women in Tech partnered to create an event focused on female startup founders. Statistics don't lie:
- Only 15% of deep tech startups are founded by women.
- Women-led startups raise less funding than their male counterparts in Europe.
- Only 2% of venture capital goes to all-female teams and around 5% to mixed teams.
Things are changing but we haven't yet reached a stage of total equality in opportunities, growth and investment. Nowadays, there are more and more tech females but how is their experience different? What are the difficulties they face?
This event was made for talented women who have the drive to change something in their lives and are willing to achieve their goals and fight for what they believe in!

- Joana Pinto, CEO and co-founder of Clynx
With a master's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Joana is a Portuguese entrepreneur, fascinated by business strategy and disruptive innovation in healthcare. Joana co-founded Clynx, a Digital Health startup based in Lisbon that has been incubated and invested by Demium.
- Sara Gonçalves, CEO and co-founder of Actif
Sara is a curious person, driven by challenges and the feeling of overcoming them. Sara co-founded a couple of projects, being Actif the most recent startup incubated and invested by Demium. Sara has a Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy Engineering and developed several skills in IT and management during the last professional years. She is currently finishing her Master's degree in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology.
- Patrícia Machado, CEO and co-founder of Explor
Patrícia believes in a world where tourism can have a positive impact and be sustainable. As a passionate tourism professional with a natural talent for communication, tourism management and customer service, Patrícia joined Demium, met her co-founders and founded Explor, an in-destination app that will help tourists to match with the perfect travel decision.
The event will be moderated by Inês Santos Silva, from Portuguese Women in Tech:
Inês Santos Silva is currently on sabbatical and going deep into the areas of Web3 and health. Inês is the Co-founder and Chief Activist at Portuguese Women in Tech, a community focused on attracting more women to tech and on supporting those that are already working in technology. And the founder of Women(dot)Business, a social business focused on creating more corporate procurement opportunities for women-owned and women-led businesses.
They come together to share their experiences and discuss the challenges and opportunities of being a female founder of a startup in Portugal, and the world.
