Zoom Event: Coronavirus, Rammstein, Hating Trumpers Forever
Details
Heather MacDonald is a writer for the Manhattan Institute. She has written a lot of interesting things criticizing both BLM and the woke left. In this piece, written last May, she is very critical of the COVID lock downs. For such a long article, it is interesting that she doesn't outline exactly what the policy should be, perhaps she is advocating a "herd immunity" approach? She makes the common argument that a large fraction of those who died had other, complicating health conditions, neglecting to mention that MOST PEOPLE over 50 have other, complicating health conditions: https://tinyurl.com/3TopicsHeatherMacDonaldCOVID
The following Quora article points out that death is not the only problem for COVID patients -- those who get COVID and survive do not generally recover completely, but a large fraction are left with other, quite serious health problems: https://tinyurl.com/3TopicsCOVIDDeathIsNotAll
Many opposed to lock downs cite Sweden as a role model for the "herd immunity" approach. Like Democratic Socialists who falsely claim that Scandinavia has successfully implemented the policies they have in mind, this is based on ignorance of what is really going on over there, and its consequences: https://tinyurl.com/3TopicsCOVIDSweden

Rammstein is a German heavy-metal rock band. A lot of European heavy metal bands sing in English to cater to the American market, but Rammstein always sings in German.
This is "Amerika", their comic video about American culture (particularly junk culture) and influence dominating the whole world.

This is a much more controversial video, "Deutschland". Israel wanted it banned. Hardly any Germans are old enough to have been alive in WW2, let alone old enough to have had any influence at all on what happened in that period. The Germans, like any country, have a right, and a need, to ask "Who are we? How did we get here? Who do we want to be?" and the video examines Germany's past, warts and all, with their eyes wide open. How are the Germans to react to their history? Hate themselves forever, and to constantly live too buried in shame to even discuss it? https://tinyurl.com/3TopicsRammsteinDeutschland
The video is really obsessed with the ugliest parts of German history, it kind of totally misses out on the peaceful, prosperous periods, like when I lived there from 1967-1975.
The black actress represents "Germany" in the video. The scene where they're cannibalizing her is based on the German idiom "to eat oneself up", that is, to be overcome with guilt.
This half hour video is a German explaining the historical context of parts of the video. Watching the video, one realizes that Hitler was only chancellor for 12 years, and most of the video is about other periods in German history: https://tinyurl.com/3TopicsDeutschlandAnalysis

The author of this article is against national healing, swearing that she will hate Trump supporters forever, and never attempt to have civil dialogue with them. https://tinyurl.com/3TopicsHateTrumpersForever
This is immature, even infantile. Trump voters are something like 45% of the country, we can't just kill them, and there's almost NOTHING that we can accomplish without their cooperation. Democrats are FAR more guilty than Republicans of being incapable of civil conversation with anyone who disagrees with them, and they need to improve.
