Bulgaria – perhaps not normally our first (second or third!) choice as a wine destination however I have been convinced to give it a go by none less than our own travel leader, Tina. Apparently Bulgarian wines have made great strides forward in recent times…….. let’s go and find out for ourselves.

It’s also festival weekend so it’s not just wine, there’s also great food and fun and, for the first time, the two 45Not Grumpy tour leaders will work together to give you the best time ever……..

Based for four nights in the old, picturesque town of Plovdiv, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, we will explore this ancient city and the surrounding Thrace Valley (aka ‘The Valley of Wine & Roses’) whilst partaking in whatever merriment we find along our way.

Day 1 Thursday
Arrival at Plovdiv airport (20.45)
Transfer to Plovdiv city centre, check in hotel
An evening with the group.

Day 2 Friday
Breakfast
Walking tour Plovdiv
Old town and visiting local wine producer for some wine tastings
Evening with the group, dinner included

Day 3 Saturday
Breakfast
Day out in Plovdiv
Discover The ‘Wine&Rose Valley’ through tastings and much more.
Visiting three Revival houses in the afternoon
Dinner in a local restaurant

Day 4 Sunday
Breakfast
Day trip to The ‘Wine&Rose Valley’, visiting Damascena wine and roses experiences and an Ancient Thracian tomb
Wine tasting experience before dinner

Day 5 Monday
Breakfast
Check out and making our way to the Sofia
Exploring Sofia at leisure – relaxing time with the group, afternoon tea/coffee
Transfer to Sofia airport for your flight

4 x nights single occupancy B&B in 4-star central location hotel in Plovdiv, 2 dinners/2 lunches
2 guided walking tours and wine tastings on Saturday and Sunday and a day trip
