50+ Getting Out in RVA Social Group

Two of the things I want to do are explore Richmond and try food from different cultures so here's my plan....

There's a show on Netflix called "Somebody Feed Phil" which features Phil Rosenthal, the creator of "Everybody Loves Raymond". He has been traveling the world for years now, learning about different cultures and eating A LOT of food in the places he's traveled to. So I was thinking, why not watch the show, follow Phil on his adventures and go to places in Richmond that serve food from the countries he has been to. Phil is a bit eccentric but he's sincere, enthusiastic and kind so I like him. Whether you want to watch his show or just come for the food, it's all good!

In an effort to find the best places, I go to the "experts" on the Richmond foodie sites to ask for advice on where to go.

Season 1, Episode 1 features Bangkok so let's go eat some Thai food! :-)

Love The Doors and Jimi Hendrix or just like doing something a little different? The Science Museum of Virginia has created an event where they are pairing a light show to their music. From the museum's site:

"The unforgettable guitar greatness of both acts will be synced to a vibrant display befitting their catalogues".

Science Museum members may purchase tickets for $12.50. Tickets for non-members are $15. Tickets are non-refundable and may not be transferred and resold. Please purchase your ticket when you rsvp.

There will be candy, popcorn, non-alcoholic beverages and alcoholic beverages for sale before the start of the Laser Show. A valid ID will be required to purchase alcoholic beverages. Food and beverages may be taken into the Dome and enjoyed during the show.

Each Laser Show can seat 250 guests. Once 250 tickets have been purchased, the event is sold out.
The Jimi Hendrix & The Doors Laser Show is open to all ages. For safety reasons, guests cannot arrive late or re-enter The Dome once a Laser Show has started. Before purchasing tickets, be sure all guests in your party are able to sit through the 60-minute show without leaving. Guests who arrive late or leave during the performance will not be issued a refund.
Science Museum exhibitions are not open during evening Laser Show events. Guests will only have access to The Dome. We encourage you to come back and experience more in a future visit!

This is another member request! A couple people said they went to this and it was a nice experience. This is an event run by a very nice man from another meetup group: Pine Camp Native Plants and Trees Meetup Group. Please register here so it's easier for our members to find each other at the event but please also register on his site so we don't complicate things for him. The City of Richmond's Pine Camp Cultural Arts Center is hosting a morning of forest therapy and a sound bath.
The retreat includes mindful nature and art activities, chi-kung, The Way of Tea, and a tranquil Sound Bath. A certified guide will lead you through the Pine Camp Forest. Sound Bath will be provided by Elena Alexis, a multi-modal healing arts practitioner.
A celebration of pine tea will be included in our mindful outdoor experience.
Unless there is severe weather, we go rain or shine. Of course, we do adjust, especially if it's raining hard. We go inside for certain activities and then back outside after the storm has passed.
