SUNDAY BRUNCH AT THE FAMOUS SERVICE STATION CAFE IN MELVILLE

I’ve been wanting to visit the Service Station for quite some time! It seems they have been famous for freshly made breakfasts and lunches for 20 years. An institution among locals and beyond, it’s one of those places where the waiters know your name. They prepare all food on site (or in own home kitchens) and use the best locally available products, and also offer a range of delicious take-home meals. There is a well-stocked deli with a wide range of artisanal goodies for taking home too.

While they offer the fresh healthy stuff for vegans, vegetarians and gluten-allergics, there is a whole menu for others who enjoy meaty, cheesy, bready meals! And for dessert, there is always home-made real ice cream….

Its feels like a healthy Sunday Lunch spread, thinks home-cooked quiches, beautiful salads and roasted vegetables. You pay for the meal by the weight of your plate. There are not many places in Jozi where you can get a meal like this for the price. Besides the mouth-watering menu, the large glass windows make this space a breezy, uplifting space to meet friends, have a wholesome meal or do some work alone (there is a nice big workspace at the back and yes, there is free Wi-Fi!)’.
