Sunrise and August Full-Moon Moonset Paddle

Details

As the sun rises in the East, the August Full Moon will be setting in the West. The picture above was taken last week. If it's partly cloudy as the sun rises, there's a light show.

I will push off from the boat ramp at 5:30. Please arrive early enough to have your craft ready to go. I will be there a half hour early. There will be a lot of cars parked there already. We will be the only group of kayakers and paddle boarders there this early in the morning.

I am bringing both my camera and my phone. They capture the light differently. Generally the cellphone creates a nicer image, but for wildlife opportunities I want my camera's zoom lens and higher resolution. If you bring a camera, have a dry box or bag to protect it.

The boat ramp is just past the first stop sign past the bathrooms. Parking is just past the ramp. There is only one boat ramp. When you see one, you are in the correct location.

The boat ramp uses the marina parking lot. You must have a Larimer County Parks Pass to park there. If you love the outdoors, you should get the annual pass. One can be purchased on your way at the South Bay Visitor Center.
