What we’re about
For musicians and singer/songwriters (any instrument!) working on material, performing and recording it, with an interest in discussing craft, production, performance, and fostering community. Intermediate to pro, with an emphasis on a DIY approach, the 510 Musician Collaborative is the place to start.
Since the inception of the group, I have been scheduling Meetups at local open mic events, which has been an easy way to network and talk about music. In the future, there will be a Singer-Songwriter Symposium which will allow folks to bring a song to deconstruct and discuss. As well, I am generating ideas for events, and am open to suggestions. Please stay tuned, more events to come which promise to be engaging and fun!

Lacking a coherent lyrical theme in your song?
Stuck on a few chords without any sense of how to write that bridge?
Our inaugural songwriting symposium was so engaging and enlightening (now over a year ago, sadly) that we determined that a songwriting workshop would be a brilliant next step. To that end we are scheduling our first full fledged songwriting workshop IN PERSON.
Participants can bring in a song in any form (ideas, lyrics, chords, fully fleshed out recording) and we will talk, in turn, about the myriad possibilities–and desires of the songwriter whose work is under scrutiny–and help determine how best to move forward and finish that song.
Each person will get 10-15 minutes (depending on our numbers) to present what they have and receive feedback from the rest of the group.
This will all be done in the spirit of inclusiveness, open mindedness, gentle critique (if any necessary) and with the desire to help individual songwriters bring their work to fruition. Please be prepared to participate with whatever you bring to the session - no wallflowers!
This will focus on those who are writing and playing original songs and actively performing them in some manner, with an emphasis on live performance.
Of course, if you are just getting started and interested in learning about the songwriting process from a bunch of self-proclaimed practitioners, then come along anyway.
ULTIMATE GOAL IS TO HAVE FUN AND REVEL IN THE JOY OF SONGWRITING!
BYOB and/or snacks. Feel free to bring something to share or a small donation to help facilitate the event.
We will start at 4:30 and have our happy hour, then get on with the songwriting biz at 5:30 or so.
