Understanding Us: Core Concepts in Neuroscience @ Comprehensivist Wednesdays

Details
How can we understand neuroscience, and its power to explain how we perceive, feel, forget, imagine, hope, plan, and do? Can it help us to know who we are, why we behave & misbehave, and how we can improve any area of behavior? Can it help us understand the people in our lives?
The expansive field of Neuroscience can give us insights & understanding, and further our goals of "Understanding Us". We earlier explored several introductory topics using the focusing lens of neuroscience. Our earlier discussions were intentionally general. For us to delve into more challenging topics requires us to understand the "language" of neuroscience, to learn a few basic but essential core tenets, and learn to think in specific ways about our brain.
This talk will try to formulate a basic level of literacy and essential knowledge that we each need, especially non-scientists, to make the many research findings from this field more understandable. This talk is a step on our journey to understanding Us.

Welcome to the series "Comprehensivist Wednesdays". Transdisciplinarity, Renaissance humanism, homo universalis, and Polymathy are some of the ways of describing this approach which Buckminster Fuller called Comprehensivity and described as “macro-comprehensive and micro-incisive”.
