Details
[Don’t miss: Deep Conversations: What have You Learnt from CJ’s Comprehensivism Series? this Friday at 9pm ET. See: https://www.meetup.com/52LivingIdeas/events/280752620/]
The featured quote "to understand all and put everything together" comes from Buckminster Fuller’s 1969 book “Operating Manual for Spaceship Earth”. This event will interpret the quote to identify issues of wholeness in comprehensive inquiry and action. Provocatively, this exploration will attempt to identify "the whole shebang" gestured to by the issues of wholeness embodied in this quote.
The main part of this exploration will consider the gestalt theory of learning as effectively summarized by Jan Zwicky in her 45 minute video presentation "The Experience of Meaning" which you can watch at https://youtu.be/je1ZN907HzQ
My essay 'The Whole Shebang: "to understand all and put everything together"' gives an extended discussion of the issues to be explored: https://www.cjfearnley.com/CfC/2021/09/the-whole-shebang-to-understand-all-and-put-everything-together/
Welcome to the series "Comprehensivist Wednesdays". Transdisciplinarity, Renaissance humanism, homo universalis, and Polymathy are some of the ways of describing this approach which Buckminster Fuller called Comprehensivity and described as “macro-comprehensive and micro-incisive”.
