In this month’s Design Your Life meetup, we will explore Hunters, Farmers, and Teamers by Joel Hubbard and Jim Zartman, a framework rooted in the primal instincts that have shaped human progress for thousands of years. The book identifies three ancient drives—Hunting, the instinct for innovation and risk-taking; Farming, the instinct for sustainability and stewardship; and Teaming, the instinct for collaboration and shared purpose.

These instincts shaped early civilization and continue to shape how we work, lead, and build organizations today. Long before systems like MBTI or DISC, these drives formed the foundation of how people contributed to their communities, solved problems, and created lasting structures. Understanding them offers a practical way to see our strengths, blind spots, and team dynamics more clearly.

We will focus on how to identify your dominant instinct, how instincts interact within groups, and how instinctually diverse teams support long-term success. Reading the book is helpful, but not required to join the discussion.
