Is it time to considler swaping your current home for a Cluster Home?

Details

Ann and I recently sold our home of 28 years and moved to a cluster home to unlock some equity from our old house for retirement. Join us for a tour of our new home and a discussion about our experience in making this move. We will discuss the financial and lifestyle advantages of swapping your current home for a standalone cluster home.

Advantages of Standalone Cluster Homes:

  • Layout: Typically more of a ranch style with fewer stairs.
  • Shared Maintenance and Convenience: Cluster homes typically have professional management that handles maintenance of shared spaces and amenities, such as gardens, pools, and security systems. This reduces the homeowner's responsibility and hassle compared to maintaining everything independently in a traditional home.
  • Enhanced Security: Cluster homes are often in gated communities with shared security features, providing a safer environment than many traditional standalone homes, where security is the owner’s responsibility.
  • Community and Amenities: These homes foster a sense of community with shared recreational facilities (e.g., pools, gyms, BBQ areas), offering social opportunities that are especially attractive for those seeking a communal living experience.
  • Lower Cost and Accessibility: Cluster homes generally have lower entry costs and are more affordable than standalone homes because the land area is smaller and shared, making them appealing to younger professionals, retirees, and buyers seeking convenience and affordability.
  • Lock-and-Leave Lifestyle: For busy professionals or frequent travelers, cluster homes offer hassle-free living with managed upkeep, allowing easy lock-and-leave security benefits.
  • Lower taxes and property insurance.
