Hi there!
This group is for people 55+ who are in a serious relationship of any denomination and want to get to know other couples via fun activities with the hope of creating life long friendships.
I met my husband, Craig, via a hiking group and we are now both continuing the legacy for our love to Nature, friendships, and social events. We want others to know that there is more in Life than working hard, taking care of others, shopping at the grocery store (weekend trip to Costco, anyone?) and watching TV.
I have been an organizer of several groups and an event organizer of other groups since 2011.
I currently organize a group name 55+ Almaden Hiking & Social Group that welcomes both couples and single members.You are most welcome to also join this group if you wish.
We will post events in this group that will not be posted in the 55+ South Bay Social Couples (such as female-only pool parties, arts & crafts, walks, and hikes). However, many of the events we create will be posted both in this group as well as in the 55+ Almaden Hiking & Social Group.
ABOUT CRAIG AND I:
Craig and I both enjoy and love Nature, hiking, kayaking, food, Shakespeare in the Park, Music in the Park, volunteering, boardgames, dancing (we love dancing!), the arts, walking, weekend get-aways ... And we are open to suggestions from members. We will also be most grateful if you become an event organizer (We will train you. It is super easy).
We are not much into wine tasting per se but we will welcome anyone willing to become a host to create wine tasting activities and such. However, Craig and I will host some music events at wineries as summer and other holidays approach. Most of these events will include a potluck.
WHAT WE EXPECT:
We understand that there are lots of meetup groups offering wonderful events. We ask that you be considerate and appreciative of the time and effort it takes for organizers of THIS group to create events and how it affects others when members change their RSVP within 48 hours from the start of the event. This is becoming a serious issue in the "meetup world" and one that organizers have to deal with constantly. It is for this reason that cancellations done within 24 hours from the start of the event will be considered as a "no show."
- RSVP for events you are sure to attend.
- Do not RSVP using our group as a "place holder" while waiting to be accepted in another group.
- Cancel within 48 hours from the start of the event to allow other members in the waitlist to attend OR to allow the organizer to accommodate the event, restaurant reservations, etc.
- Be considerate of others, fun, engaging, active, positive...
Members with three "no shows" will be removed from the group.
Members who consistently change their RSVP to "not attending" will be removed from the group and will also have a low priority when we have parties, etc...
Members who did not attend any event in a year will be removed from the group.

We do not need to sit together. We will socialize before the performance and during our early dinner.

I will make reservations once I have an idea of how many people will attend dinner. Please, do not change your mind once you have decided to attend. It really is an inconvenience for us and the restaurant.

THE GREAT DICKENS FAIR GENERAL INFORMATION
Dickens Christmas & Victorian Faire is open from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm. We will meet at 10:30 am by the train located at the entrance of The Cow Palace but feel free to leave when you are ready :)
Welcome to The Great Dickens Christmas Fair where over 4 acres of the historic Cow Palace exhibition halls are magically transformed into the winding lanes and bustling play houses of Victorian London! Immerse yourself in a world of theatres, pubs, dance parties, and charming shops. Discover holiday revelry in this lamp-lit city brimming with hundreds of lively and colorful characters from the imagination of Charles Dickens and the often saucy world of the Victorian stage.
This event will take you to Victorian times (not to be confused with the Renaissance although there may be some overlapping - in my humble opinion).
Renaissance Vs. Victorian
Costumes are not required but do wear comfortable clothing and shoes for there is A LOT to see and experience, including dancing. But, please, feel free to show up with a Victorian costume and have fun with it if you wish. There will be plenty of SHOPS as well as DELICACIES & LIBATIONS

It is perpetually Christmas Eve at the Great Dickens Christmas Fair! The Fair transports you to the London of Charles Dickens – a city of winding lanes filled with colorful characters from both literature and history – all in a festive mood! INFORMATION ABOUT WALKING BEFORE ARTS & CRAFTS:
Meet at my house if you are interested in walking around 3-5 miles before Arts & Crafts start.
We will alternate our walks between MARTIAL COTTLE PARK AND HELLYER PARK.
- We will meet at 10:30 am on the days we walk MARTIAL COTTLE PARK which is located 0.5 miles from my front door.
- We will meet at 9:30 am on the days we walk HELLYER PARK which is located 5 min. drive from my front door - no freeway.
- We will meet at 1:00 pm for Arts & Crafts.
If you do not wish to do Arts & Crafts but want to walk and socialize afterwards, you may do so.

PURPOSE:
I know many of you are talented crafters and that many of you want to try "new things" as you progress into a new stage in your life.

LOS GATOS CREEK TO ST. JOSEPH'S HILL FLEXIBLE HIKE + SPANISH LUNCH

- NO DOGS/PETS ALLOWED IN OUR HIKES.
PARKING & MEETING POINT:
There are many public parking lots around St. Joseph's entrance (see photo). You may park along E Main St also.
The meeting point (entrance to St. Joseph's) is clearly shown in one of the photos and easy to find. You can also Google the driving directions for Capelli Bel Sole and the entrance to the trail is right there.
ABOUT ST. JOSEPH'S HILL PRESERVE
ABOUT THE HIKE
We will start by walking alongside Highway 17 along the Los Gatos Creek Trail. After that, we will wind uphill along the Jones, Manzanita, and Novitiate Trails passing over the summit of Saint Joseph's Hill. A bench is in place at the top of the hill to rest and enjoy the view from.
MILES: 6.1
ELEVATION: 967 ft
FLEXIBILITY:
On this hike, you can shorten the distance to 4 miles and around 500 ft. by skipping the Manzanita Trail loop. You can hike back while the rest of the group continues (in which case we can all meet at the restaurant) or you can wait until the group is done hiking the extra loop.
RESTAURANT (OPTIONAL):
ALL 10 SEATS FOR LUNCH ARE TAKEN.
Reservation made for 10 people. First come, first served. More than 10 people would require a set menu with a minimum of $65 per person. PLEASE, NOTE: If you RSVP too late, we may not be able to accommodate you for lunch.
