Healing the Healers May 15, 2013
I am making changes this month in our meetup meeting. New day, new time, and new focus! I hope that more of you will be able and interested in attending this month.
Our meeting is Wednesday, May 15, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at The Studio behind Green’s Nutrition at 1906 Pacific Avenue, Stockton.
Our focus is healing the healer. The meeting is open to all – you don’t have to be a healer to benefit from this healing. And you are welcome to bring friends.
The highlight of this meeting will be Gail Francisco leading us in an iRest Yoga Nidra meditation. At the end of this announcement is a good explanation of iRest Yoga Nidra taken from their website www.irest.us/ Don’t worry, you don’t need to bring a mat and stretch!
Gail is new to Stockton. She is trained in iRest Yoga Nidra, massage therapy and other holistic healing practices. She is a military veteran, and a whiz at programming – check out www.healingstockton.com to see her work. She is the executive director of Warriors at Ease, a group that brings the healing power of yoga and meditation to military communities around the world, especially those affected by combat-stress, PTSD, and trauma.
I look forward to seeing many of you there.
Light and love, Joy
iRest Overview
iRest Yoga Nidra has been developed over the past twenty-six years by Richard Miller, PhD, a clinical psychologist, author, researcher and yogic scholar, and is uniquely suitable for a Western audience.
Extensive research has shown that iRest effectively supports the healing process across a broad range of populations. Currently, there are iRest programs in military hospitals across the U.S., as well as in correctional facilities, hospices, clinics, schools, and organizations supporting personal growth and well-being. In June of 2010, iRest was endorsed by the US Army Surgeon General and Defense Centers of Excellence as a complementary and alternative medicine (CAM).
How It Works
iRest is integrative, in that it heals the various unresolved issues, traumas, and wounds that are present in the body and mind. It is restorative in that it aids its practitioners in recognizing their underlying peace of mind that is always present amidst all changing circumstances of life.

•
iRest programs are typically taught as a guided meditation. Students can expect to lie down or sit comfortably during the practice. It is comprised of the following:
