About this Lab
The purpose of this lab to establish a baseline of knowledge and experience. We will discuss the pros and cons of different Arduino boards, varieties of shields, powering your project, and various resources available. We will build a small project and program it.

The project will be a level meter. Though level meters are usually used to measure sound, they can respond to any analog input. This 37-second video (https://vimeo.com/44142341) shows the meter that we will be building responding to a potentiometer, light, and temperature. The possibilities are endless, and everything looks cooler with meter lights.

About our Speaker
Danny Swarzman: Danny is a professional programmer focusing on Apple products. Lately, he has become an electronics hobbyist.

System Requirements
1- ARDUINO IDE 1.0 or greater (http://arduino.cc/hu/Main/Software) (please download and install prior to showing up)
2- USB cable
3- Arduino Board
4- laptop
5- a breadboard
6- 22 awg wire
7- components- you can download the list of parts I used for the circuits in the video from our files for ideas, but feel free to bring whatever you want to work with.
8- tools: wire strippers and smooth-jaw needle-nose pliers
9- extras of any of the above that you can share

Please come even if you don't have all the system requirements. I will have a few extras to lend, and I hope that others will, too.

Please bring your own system requirements, or be prepared to purchase the parts on-site.
