[showcase/talks] Virtual Reality Content Creation

There's no question that Virtual Reality will be huge in 2016. But how do you get your hands dirty to create the immersiveness that has been promised by VR?

At this month's Meetup we will examine two types of content creation for VR, 360 video and 3D engine.

360 video content creation is basically a video recording of a real world scene, where the view in every direction is recorded at the same time.

3D engine content creation is the creation of an interactive 3d world using 3D engine like unity to let player move around and interact with the 3d objects.

The event will start off with VR project showcase from local content developers or demo of interesting VR/AR projects by volunteers, to be followed by talks about 360 video and 3d engine content creation.

We will setup tables for local VR developers to showcase their VR game, apps or website and volunteers to showcase VR devices or VR game/app/website that they found.

3. Scenes created using VRcollab WebVR Markup language - Santan Maddi

Santan will be sharing some Virtual Reality Websites and how to use VRcollab WebVR markup language to create VR website. Yes, you can view 3D content using a browser (chrome & firefox) with Oculus and google cardboard now. He will be sharing how he created this huge pokka spinning on the desert Web VR scene.

7.20pm - "Intro to Virtual Reality Games and Controls" - Tianyang (https://www.facebook.com/tianyang)

Tian Yang is a game developer for almost 10 years. He will be sharing the way he converts a 3D game for VR using an example from the Unity3D Assets.

7.40pm - “The story behind Happyland 360” - Vitaly

Happyland360 is a collaboration between VOSTOKVR and V3RA Studios to show everyday life of people living in a slums of Manila. Using 360 video we want to show places that are not accessible by ordinary tourists and share stories that was never shared before.

8:00pm - "The Hitchhiker's Guide to 360" - Tom Radford and Matt Edwards

Tom and Matt of local production house Click2View will explore from the creator's POV the intricacies, challenges and lessons learned with this fledgling technology -- everything from managing the software through and synching cameras to dealing with low light -- a learning curve they compare to the north face of the Eiger.
