VR Content: The Making Of

MEETUP OVERVIEW

For the last meet-up of the year, we will be discussing VR content creation. This year has been a roller coaster for VR, especially for hardware. But content will be key in sustaining this industry.

We have invited some distinguished guests to talk about initiatives to encourage producers to create VR content, how VR content is conceptualized compared to traditional mediums, and the tools you can use to create simple VR content easily.

Evening Rundown

7.00pm - Introduction/Asia VR Updates

A quick recap of the AsiaVR Association and introduction by our MC for the night, Roy Koo, Founder of IGNITE VR (http://ignite-vr.com).

7:15pm - Abhi Kumar (https://www.linkedin.com/in/abhi-kumar-02105762), Chief Creative Director , Warrior9

Abhi believes that VR is the next step in the evolution of storytelling. He is currently working on developing the first sci-fi animated series in VR, The PhoenIX.

Abhi will share about how Warrior9 conceptualizes and develops their VR content.

7:35pm - Don Anderson (https://www.linkedin.com/in/donjanderson), Head of Kids & Learning Partnerships, YouTube APAC, & Co-Founder, AsiaVR Assocation

Don will be sharing insights he gained from the MIPCOM conference that he attended in Cannes in October. VR was a key topic of the conference with its own track that covered topics like: "VR Content Workflow", "Beyond 360 - From Passive Viewing to Virtual Interaction", "VR & Immersive Journalism" and a 30 minute session called "Getting Real about VR: Where is the money? (https://soundcloud.com/user-374492226/mipcom-2016-getting-real-with-vr-where-is-the-money)"

Don's personal favourite was: "Disruptive Storytelling: Weaving Narratives into VR."

7:55pm - Andes Rizky (https://www.linkedin.com/in/andes-rizky-13211241), COO, Shinta VR

Andes, who is also the founder of INVRA, will be sharing about MindVoke which is an application that allows you to create VR content easily.

8:15pm - Maxime Depondt (https://www.linkedin.com/in/maxime-depondt-06821216), Creative Director, EON Reality

Max will share about the new VR incubator from EON Reality and how it can benefit and give potential VR content creators a leg up.

8:30pm - Bryan Seah (https://www.linkedin.com/in/bryanseah), Head of Original Productions (SEA), Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific

Bryan will chat with us about the IMDA-Discovery $5 million year-long partnership. As an early adopter with a dedicated virtual reality (VR) application, 2017 will also see Discovery’s experienced global crew train local producers in VR technology – sharing their know-how and expertise on storytelling. The final films will break new ground and premiere on the Discovery VR application globally.

Bryan will also share about the Discovery VR app and the content they are looking for.
