2014 - PAIR UP AND LEARN TOGETHER
Come participate in our Mentor-Me program, where both experts and newbies come together to pair and level up. Find your mentor this year or become one - all are encouraged to join and help each other.
Pragmatic Programmers suggest learning a new language every year. We're Rubyists but Ruby and RoRails is always working within a spectrum of many other languages. We encourage you to come find your pair to work with.
If your brand new, start here:
- TryRuby.org (http://tryruby.org/levels/1/challenges/0) - An interactive application to see immediate results.
- Rails for Zombies (http://railsforzombies.org/) - When you just want to absorb.
- Learn Ruby the Hard Way (http://ruby.learncodethehardway.org/book/) - Great place to start. ( a documented repo here (https://github.com/curvgrl5000/Shaw_Exercises) )
- Michael Hartl Ruby on Rails Tutorial (http://ruby.railstutorial.org/ruby-on-rails-tutorial-book) - Another Great place to start.
For More Advanced:
Each week we'll be reading a chapter of a chosen book,
and or watching a screen cast, then working together to build an application.

If you are brandy new to Ruby or Ruby on Rails; we will help you get up to speed if you are willing to put in the time. If you are more advanced; become a mentor and help others learn while having a dedicated study night.
We're always looking for speakers, mentors and general help. Every other month, we'll plan a get together and showcase our work, discuss advanced topics and network with other programmers.
If you'd like to give a demo, or are willing to share with a lighting talk, reach out!
