Vermicomposting: Learn about and set up your own home worm compost bin!

Details
Vermicomposting: Keeping worms to recycle food scraps and other organic material into a valuable soil amendment called vermicompost, or worm compost. Compost tea, which can be collected beneath the worm bin, is a great way to add nutrients as you water your houseplants, garden, or farm. When properly maintained, worm bins can be kept and used year round in your basement or protected porch.
Nancy Gold will lead us in adapting Rubbermaid containers (or similar brought from home) into home worm-composting bins and will give helpful info on setting up and maintaining your bin and worms at home.
Amy, another vermiculture veteran, is moving and so has offered a large supply of worms for us to start our bins--Thank you, Amy!
Co-sponsored by the Lexington Community Farm Coalition. http://www.lexfarm.org
$20 fee includes all supplies and $5 to help with Meetup fees and to support LexFarm's education work. If you are a LexFarm member, you can take $5 off the fee. If you plan to attend but not make your own bin (for example, if you are a guest of someone else), please just pay $5 donation.
If you will be bringing your own bin and/or bedding, please let us know that (answer the RSVP questions) and you can discount the fee and pay by check (made out to Jane Hammer) or cash at the workshop.
