Great movie ideas, like great business ideas, are not actionable unless they get the funding and resources needed to make it happen. Many believe that a good idea is all it takes to get funding, but what it really takes is a good pitch. Being able to effectively deliver a pitch is critical to your success, whether you are building your team, attracting talent, or raising money.
Yet many filmmakers struggle to create and present a pitch that brings results. So, how do you develop a good pitch? In the SF Bay Area, there are plenty of pitch sessions for tech startups, but nothing exists to help producers and filmmakers practice (and most importantly, improve) their pitch. And so, Producer Foundry is proud to launch the first pitch practice expressly for filmmakers!
If you have a film idea and want to practice pitching it, and receiving constructive feedback from experts in the industry, here's your chance!
For those select attendees who want to practice pitching their projects, they get the experience of presenting themselves and their project to a seasoned panel of experts (in business, investment, film distribution and film production) in a safe and non-threatening environment meant to encourage newcomers to get comfortable with pitching and receive constructive feedback on their presentation and project without the stakes of doing it in front of actual investors (when real money and reputation is on the line).
For attendees who may not have a project to pitch, they also benefit from watching the proceedings and providing additional feedback, but won't receiving that personalized feedback to make their own presentation more successful.
Why would you practice a pitch rather than just presenting it to investors right away? Simply put, you really have one chance to make the right impression with an investor, so it makes sense to be prepared and understand what they are looking for in an investment. Most filmmakers don’t have the business background to speak to investors in a way that sells them on their idea. Participating in this unique workshop helps you bridge that gap, and can get you prepared in a much shorter time.
So, what are you waiting for? Seats are limited (both for pitches and to observe). Make your film project a reality!
In this workshop, you will:
-
learn the fundamentals you need to cover in your pitch
-
learn what presentation materials you need
-
learn what investors want to know about your film
-
learn how to create and deliver a compelling presentation
-
practice your pitch (limited to 5 presenters) 7 min/pitch
-
