Designing for China and Western Tech
by Elaine Ann

In the 1980's China's economy was only 1/20th of the U.S., today it is over half the size of the U.S. economy and growing. If the way we have been designing has been based on the Western culture, how are things different when we have to design for users stem from a very different culture and background? Especially when Chinese consumers are traveling globally and are the leading consumers, how will that affect the way we research and design?

Elaine Ann will share with our group what she has learned in the past 16 years helping Western companies understand China users to strategize their products/services for the China market; the do's and don'ts in conducting Design Research in China and how to design for the next billion people market.

We'll also love to engage in a lively discussion on what this means to the international design/research community, the impact to the industry, exchange views and debunk myths about design/innovation in China.

7.30pm - 8pm
