tl;dr : Advancity is the club for millenials of all ages. our motto is 'we learn best in moments of enjoyment', our favourite quote of the Toastmasters founder Ralph Smedley. think 'learn' and 'enjoyment' and voila. We hacked out the formality and made TM 21st century friendly; no cumbersome programme sheets so the meeting , while true to the intent of TM, is fluid and reflects how we are irl. we take the good of the Toastmasters movement, Respect, Service, Integrity and Excellence and leave the rest. So all the ingredients of a normal Toastmasters club meeting with added fun and something for everyone (no standing on ceremony, no politics no frills, just a jolly good enriching time all the time every time). We have the lowest subscription rate ; the mandatory USD 45 per 6 months that goes straight to Toastmasters International for the benefits of membership of the worldwide movement :

1. the most effective public speaking and / or leadership course in the world at your own pace

2. access to any of 10s of thousands of clubs 200+ in Singapore and worldwide

3. in a club designed for you. serious. we started our club because there was a dire need for a club by and for newly-employed millenials, Toastmasters from the club formerly run by AWWA so people with different physical abilities who may have mobility devices or other challenges and people who needed to be free of the pomp and circumstance that pervade some other clubs we shall not mention here. the topup from 45 USD to SGD 80 covers our overheads as mentioned above.

Our chapter meetings typically last around 2.5 hours. It consists of prepared speeches, speech evaluations and the ever popular impromptu speaking with a fun topic picked on the spot. A vibrant, high-energy meeting that guarantees lots of fun and laughter; it is no wonder we continue to have fellowship over supper and coffee, even after the meeting ends!
