This will be the first Official SoCal Blockchain Meetup in partnership with the UCI Blockchain Club and Ethereum OC. This is pretty exciting as one of our goals is to bridge academia and the corporate world with the tech startup entrepreneurs from our community.
There is so much excitement and potential with the Blockchain that this is the perfect subject matter to bring us all together to build a better... you name it. If it's a P2P platform or something where trust is needed in online exchanges of information or value, where anonymity or security of records is important, where governance, supply chain, health tech and of coarse Fintech are concerned; the Blockchain is the answer. It's causing a massive paradigm shift in technology infrastructure and empowering everyone who takes the time to learn. So there has never been a better time to learn than now.
We will be hearing from Bill Maurer the Dean of Social Sciences at UCI, Professor, Anthropology and Law Director, Institute for Money, Technology & Financial Inclusion. He is the Advisor for the UCI Blockchain Club and will be talking about the "History of Money."

Then we we will be introduced to the students at the UCI Blockchain Club as they share what they are working on and an overview of their vision and how the Blockchain can impact everything.

We will hear from Wally Xie CEO of a startup at UCI called QChain. A Native Blockchain Advertising technology that's creating a new paradigm for autonomy and transparency in digital marketing.
