Hi Guys!

Thanks for joining this meetup!

I'd like to keep the group size for this project pretty small at first, just to make sure everyone is involved (and also to keep things simple and manageable.) I will keep entertaining new members, but in the meantime I think it would be good to get our 1st meeting started.

My intention is for each of us to build our own 3d printers together. That way we can help each other out when one gets stuck, and we can share some tools, and get good deals with volume orders. Please let me know if this is more of just a curiosity for you, or if you would actually want to build one with me. http://img2.meetupstatic.com/981263258369601089/img/smileys/smile.gif

I’ll go ahead and propose the first meetup to be Friday night around 630 pm, subject to everyone’s availability. (we will try and keep it under an hour). It will mostly be an introduction and initial brainstorming discussion on how we foresee this project going forward. Bring laptops if you can.

Here are some links as to what I want to build:

I think it’s an awesome printer, very simple to build, the least amount of parts and also one of the cheapest builds I’ve seen (not to mention arduino based!)

I hope to get this done in 1.5 months tops (working maybe 2-3 times a week after office hours since I have a day job). My budget for this project is about $500.
