Voice Content, Multimodal Accessibility, and the Story of Ask GeorgiaGov

Details
For decades now, the realms of content strategy, user experience, and accessibility have revolved first and foremost around core tenets and tropes of the web:
- Links
- Calls to action
- Navbars
- Sitemaps
Screen readers have long unlocked written web content for people with disabilities, though still rooted in the strictures and limitations of the visual medium the web represents.
Increasingly, Blind technologists are looking to voice interfaces and voice content as conduits that deliver information in time rather than space — and in the speech and sound rather than unwieldy windows. Can voice interfaces offer compelling alternatives for communities of people with disabilities when it comes to web content and websites writ large?
In this presentation, Preston So, author of the first-ever book on voice content and A Book Apart's first book on voice, voice content, and usability, will take you on a tour through the assistive potential voice interfaces and voice content unlock, with insight from Ask GeorgiaGov, among the first content-driven voice interfaces in existence and the first conversational interface built for residents of the state of Georgia.
And there will be time for your questions.
