Getting started with Kanban - The Kanban Queen (Helen Meek)
·OnlineOnlineIn the first half of 2026 we are taking it back to the basics! We have a whole series planned for those that want a refresher or just getting started.
In March we are pleased to be joined by Helen Meek. If there is something to know about Kanban.. she is the woman!
About the Session
Kanban is often described as “simple to understand, hard to master” — but what is Kanban really, beyond boards and sticky notes?
This Kanban 101 session introduces the core principles and practices of Kanban as a method for managing work and improving flow. Through clear explanations and practical examples, we explore how Kanban helps teams visualise work, limit Work in Progress (WIP), identify bottlenecks, and make better decisions based on real system behaviour.
Rather than focusing on theory alone, this talk connects Kanban concepts to everyday team challenges: too much work in progress, unpredictable delivery, frequent context switching, and hidden dependencies.
Attendees will leave with a clear mental model of how Kanban works, why it matters, and how it can be applied in knowledge work environments such as software development, operations, and service teams.
Whether you are new to Kanban or looking to strengthen your foundations, this session provides a practical starting point for using Kanban to improve flow, focus, and outcomes.
