Event Details

Docker is a valuable tool for software teams of all sizes; it's been gaining momentum with everyone from open source developers to publicly traded corporations. Docker adds a layer of abstraction between software and the operating system, making it easy for people to build and deploy software on nearly any operating system. Because of this ease-of-use, Docker orchestrators, such as Kubernetes, have been built allowing for horizontal scaling of internet-scale applications using Docker Containers. This talk will go over the value of Docker and why you want to use it in the software industry.

Speaker Bio

Ryan Smith, UCI graduating class 2014, is currently a Senior DevOps Engineer at Veritone Inc in Costa Mesa. He loves cheeseburgers and developing in the open source community. His preferred programming language is Golang, works extensively with Docker, and deploys everything to AWS. In his spare time, he's developing a Serverless framework using Terraform.
