About us
Welcome to the Narragansett Chapter Young Members 20s/30s Meetup! This Meetup is sponsored by the Narragansett Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club (Joining this Meetup Group does not automatically make you an AMC member).
Our trip leaders host local hikes, bike rides, and social events aimed at outdoorsy 20-40ish years old. We offer activities throughout RI and surrounding areas both after work and on the weekends. Joining a YM activity is a great way to make new friends and explore the area's natural beauty.
The purpose of our Meetup is to introduce others to the wonderful outdoor opportunities offered by the AMC Narragansett Chapter Young Members 20s/30s. As a Meetup member, you have no obligation to join the AMC.But, if you enjoy participating in our events, we hope you will consider joining the AMC (https://www.outdoors.org/join-today?chapter=NA&campaign=70150000001EMs5AAG).
Please, only RSVP if you plan on attending the event. For the consideration of our leaders, we ask that you contact us if you have RSVP'ed and can no longer attend.
Our events are led by highly qualified, trained AMC volunteers who are always concerned about safety. They take every precaution to assure participant risk is minimized and fun is maximized.

Audience: 20’s & 30’sDescription: If it's June, that must mean the mountain laurels are blooming! Join the Narragansett 20s and 30s for an after work hike at DuVal trail in South Kingstown. This trail is chock full of beautiful mountain laurel bushes towering above, and the trail is often speckled with the white and pink star-shaped blossoms. One of the more hilly trails in the southern part of the state, participants can expect comparatively moderate elevation, with single-track trails. About three miles into the hike there is sometimes the opportunity to observe Block Island from a lookout point, provided the trees are not obstructing the view.
Participants can expect to hike no more than 4 miles and roughly 400 ft of elevation on this rocky, rooted, winding trail. We will keep a spirited pace in order to stretch your legs after working all day, and participants should be capable of maintaining a 2.5 mph hiking pace (24 minutes/mile) .
All participants must bring with them:- Good boots or durable running sneakers
- 1 liter of water
- bug spray
Afterwards, participants are welcome to continue the social adventure at Mews Tavern in Wakefield. All participants will receive an email a day in advance with parking and weather details.
