  • West Friese Run Bike Run

    Blue Mountain

An early season event to start preparing for the triathlons - without the cold water :-) 5,37 km running 27,5 km biking 2,17 km running https://www.westfrieserunbikerun.nl/ It's located in Hoorn, easy to reach by train. The track is completely flat and although it's not fully closed, the crossings are watched by volunteers, so it's possible to go quite fast. There's a desk to leave your belongings and a cafe to have a snack after the race. Anyone would like to join? There are 65 spots left so far. I did it last year and it was quite nice, well organized, and energizing to begin the season.

  • Veenendaal - Veenendaal Sportief (110km/140km)

    AXA Valleirenners

This is one of the first sportiefs of the year, and a good opportunity to clear out the cobwebs after the winter layoff. Two distances are possible - 110km and 140km - with around 1000m of climbing. The exact route can vary from year to year, but it'll look similar to this: https://www.strava.com/routes/6201096 Details and sign-up here: https://www.axavalleirenners.nl/veenendaal-veenendaal-informatie Cost is €10,-, NTFU members get a €2 discount. Be aware that there's a strict limit on numbers, and that the event always sells out. The route is well signposted and organised, and there are food/repair stops. There's also a big pancake place at the 90km mark, which was a popular place to refuel! The event location is the start of the route, and people are of course free to use their own transport to get there, but what we did last time was catch a train from CS/Amstel around 7:30-8:00am, arrive just before 9:00am, and cycle as a single group.
