ABOUT ACTION FOR HAPPINESS
We all want to live happy and fulfilling lives and we want the people we love to be happy too. So happiness matters to all of us.
Happiness is about our lives as a whole: it includes the fluctuating feelings we experience everyday but also our overall satisfaction with life. It is influenced by our genes, upbringing and our external circumstances - such as our health, our work and our financial situation. But crucially it is also heavily influenced by our choices - our inner attitudes, how we approach our relationships, our personal values and our sense of purpose.
Action for Happiness works to support evidence based practices and theories that support well being. Local group website: www.actionforhappinessbrighton.org.uk (or just afhb.org.uk !).

Upcoming events (4+)
See all- AFH Brighton at the Sustainability Festival (Stanmer Park)One Garden Brighton, Brighton
We’re looking forward to attending the Sustainability Festival at One Garden Brighton, Stanmer Park.
We will have an interactive stall sharing Action for Happiness resources and be having some great conversations about the connections between our priorities and sustainability. A focus with Action for Happiness is how vital it is to shift the public mindset towards putting largely free non-material ways of being happy before buying happiness over the counter. We believe this can play an important part in getting us through a sustainability crisis rooted in overconsumption of the world’s resources.
If any of our community members (you!) are able to come and say hello, or even help out as part of the team on the stall, we'd love to see you, you can share your interest in the comments below. Note that if you are able to commit to helping out on our stall we can ensure free parking for you.

- ONLINE: Meaningful May Group with Action for Happiness BrightonLink visible for attendees
Our 10 Keys Groups offer an online chance to meet others near you who care about happiness and have some great conversations. We'll connect, learn, have fun and think about small actions we could take to make a meaningful difference. They are part of a range of online and face-to-face events that Action for Happiness Brighton host. See our meetup calendar for more!
In this session we connect on zoom to explore one of the 10 Keys to Happier Living together (evidence-based ways to create a happier and more meaningful life).
We will focus on connecting, sharing ideas learning simple, helpful actions to try in your own life to create more happiness for you and others around you.
We recommend you RSVP by officially joining the 10 Keys Group here https://actionforhappiness.org/groups/brighton. We can then send you additional info and resources relevant to the session as well as the right zoom link as due to the organisation of these sessions with Action for Happiness the link can change in the lead-up to the event.

- Online Happy Cafe - Meet New People and Learn about HappinessLink visible for attendees
These online happy cafes originated in Brighton UK, but seeing as it is virtual then wherever you live you are welcome to join us at this event (time differences permitting) to explore the 10 keys to happier living.
These used to be monthly (in response to lockdowns in 2020 and beyond). Now that we have more face-to-face events, we're going to make the online happy cafes more of an ad hoc event every couple of months, varying the date/time, so keep an eye on the calendar for upcoming ones!Find out more about our movement here: www.actionforhappiness.org
This month's theme will be our calendar theme of Meaningful May which links particularly to the key to happier living of 'Meaning'.
This video explains more fully how our virtual Happy Cafes work https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePxzC9A76sM.Attending a Happy Cafe is a can help you learn more about the science of happiness, including the related benefits to our physical/mental health and personal effectiveness. Actions we look at can support people who are feeling overworked, and suffering from depression or anxiety (all of which should be seen as complementing any advice a trained doctor can give). The cafe can help us make a positive difference in our society, playing our part in creating a happier, more compassionate world.
Happy Cafes are also good fun, and a way to connect with people across our local community to learn from and inspire each other. We are a friendly, inclusive and supportive bunch of people so even if you haven't been before, come and join us, you'll be made to feel more than welcome.
