(Local) Occoneechee Mountain

Details
Join me at Occoneechee Mountain in Hillsborough for a rewarding Sunday morning hike. Rising over 350 feet from the Eno River, the summit is the highest point in North Carolina between Hillsborough and the Atlantic Ocean!
We will hike the Mt. Loop Trail, Overlook Trail, Brown Elfin Knob Trail, and the Summit Trail for a total distance of around 4 miles. Hiking time will be about 2 hours. The trails are well maintained and range in difficulty from easy to moderately strenuous.
This hike is intended to enjoy views of the Triangle, the Eno river, and unique plant life to the area. Expect a moderate pace and a few stops for pictures. This is a relatively short hike but keep in mind there are several steeper uphill sections that will get your heart rate up! If you like backpacking, this is a pretty cool place to condition locally. I will bring a pack and you are welcome to join me but obviously not required.
