How the Serverless Framework was my gateway drug into DevOps

The Serverless Framework is a easy entry point into learning, building, and maintaining AWS and (of course) serverless infrastructure. It makes AWS DevOps much simpler to get into by taking away some of the overwhelming-ness of AWS. It takes care of a lot of the infrastructure you need. Learn the basics of the Serverless Framework - when to go serverless, when not to, why it's called that, and more. This talk is for developers/very technical IT people who are interested in seeing a useful application hosting strategy of the DevOps world. Presented by Michael Davidson https://www.linkedin.com/in/michaelbdavidson/ Schedule: 6:15pm - 6:30pm Arrival and Networking 6:30pm - 8:00pm Presentation / Q&A Sponsored by Robert Half Technology: https://www.rht.com/

Azure DevOps Pipelines: CI/CD WITH REAL-WORLD PIPELINES

During this hour long talk we are going to follow Jackie who was just hired by The Coggery as their first formal DevOps Engineer. The Coggery has recently moved off Team Foundation Services to Azure DevOps Services. The person that was leading this conversion accepted a new position outside The Coggery which has forced the development teams to adopt several manual deployment and validation processes until the conversion is complete. We will follow along as Jackie is asked to setup automated Azure App Service deployments for one of The Coggery’s products, how a QA environment can be used to validate a deployment before a push to production, and how a similar release approach can be used for existing on-prem applications. Like the real-world, Jackie will be presented with a scenario along with any constraints and/or decisions that were made prior to her arrival. As we will see, sometimes the most “straight-forward” approach is blocked by an unwillingness to spend money, special infrastructure that needs to be utilized, or any number of other problems that can arise. These problems will help illustrate the flexibility that Azure DevOps Pipelines provides for Continuous Delivery & Deployment. Schedule: 6:15pm - 6:30pm Arrival and Networking 6:30pm - 8:00pm Presentation / Q&A Sponsored by Robert Half Technology: https://www.rht.com/
