Collar City Ramble (recruiting volunteers & participants)

Ingalls Ave. Boat Launch Troy NY

It's that time again. September is here and Troy is ready to Ramble! Saturday September 26, once again I (Pamela Bentien) will be coordinating activities at the Ingalls Ave Boat Launch where we will have FREE kayaks available to use, on your own or during 3 guided paddles. And once again, I am looking for volunteers to assist me there throughout the day. ADK volunteers have made this a successful and enjoyable event every year and their assistance is *much* appreciated. I need people to help me on shore, a couple of people at the check-in table to supply information and help attendees sign in and a couple of people at the launch to assist participants with getting into the boats. No paddling experience required for these tasks (but a plus, if you are a paddler). I don't want to have to rely on anyone being there all day so I need several people to rotate through these roles. I am also inviting anyone who has a canoe or kayak to attend and be part of the 10:00am "flotilla". A group of paddlers will launch at 10:00 (please arrive at 9:30 to unload and prep) and paddle down to the Congress St. Bridge and back (about a 3-mile loop, approximately 1.5 hours). Starting at 10:30 there will be 3 led paddles for people using the FREE kayaks for public use (rented by @transport troy group from @upstate kayak rentals). I will need experienced paddlers with their own boats, a leader & sweep for each tour. Again, I want to spread the workload out so all can enjoy the day. The new launch has lots of parking and a dock at the new paved boat ramp. No restrooms installed at this time but a porta-john will be available that day. The usual Coronavirus precautions will be in effect. Masks must be worn when in proximity to other people. Hand sanitizer will be available for use. This will be our 8th annual Ramble and I can vouch for it being a fun day. Come play with us! PM me with questions or to sign on. Thanks!! Or email at [masked]
