AGENDA:
6:00 pm - 6:20 pm: Networking & Food & Beverages
6:30 pm - 7:00 pm: Talk 1: Making Kubernetes easy with Knative
7:00 pm - 7:30 pm: Talk 2: Building Cloud-Native Apps using Kubernetes
7:30 pm - 8:00 pm: Talk 3: The 4 Golden Signals

TALK 1:
Making Kubernetes easy with Knative

ABSTRACT:
Kubernetes has simplified the management of applications in the cloud and allowed enterprises to scale their applications in ways not before seen. Often times Kubernetes is seen as difficult for Developers who just want to focus on building and deploying code. Knative is an open-source solution that gives you a serverless experience on your Kubernetes cluster making developing on Kubernetes easier for your teams. Learn the basics of getting started with building, serving, and eventing you Kubernetes Applications.

SPEAKER:
Jason (Jay) Smith is a Customer Engineer at Google Cloud. Jay regularly works with enterprises taking the leap from legacy apps to the cloud via Kubernetes and the broader cloud-native ecosystem. Jason has a deep background in modern serverless architecture and has spent a lot of time building with, and teaching around, Knative and Kubernetes. Jay has recently focused on developing solutions related to real-time streaming events for serverless containers."

TALK 2:
Building Cloud-Native Applications using Kubernetes and Oracle Autonomous Database

ABSTRACT:
In this session, Manish Kapur from the Oracle Application Development Cloud Platform team will provide an overview of Oracle's Cloud-Native Application Development platform. He will talk about developing and deploying cloud-native applications like Microservices and Serverless functions using Continuous Integration and Delivery Pipelines. This will include a demonstration of how to use the CI/CD approach to build and deploy a simple Node.js based microservices application that uses Oracle Autonomous Transaction Processing (ATP) database for persistence.

SPEAKER:
Manish Kapur, Director of Oracle Cloud Platform at Oracle, Manish focuses on Application Development Cloud Platform which includes Cloud-Native Application Development, DevOps, Blockchain, Low Code Development, and Java services in Oracle Cloud.

TALK 3:
The 4 Golden Signals

ABSTRACT:
Google’s Site Reliability Engineering book lays out the 4 Golden Signals of monitoring a distributed application: Latency, Traffic, Errors, and Saturation. Understanding the differences between these signals and how they relate to your system are critical for maximizing the uptime of your system. Travis DePuy, Product Evangelist at xMatters will follow notable SREs Goldilocks and Little Miss Muffet as they learn more about the Four Golden Signals and find out that alerts are just the beginning of the journey.

SPEAKER:
Travis DePuy is a Tinkerer of Things, Master of Hats and Father of Kitties. He is currently Head Product Evangelist at xMatters where he gets to talk to people about how they are doing Incident Management, DevOps notifications and anything else involving humans, processes and tools. Travis balances the stationary computer work with the fluid moving of Chen Taichi and is often found in the sun flowing the forms of the old ways.
