Midreign and Shoppe

It's Midreign! That means we're halfway through the six month reign period, halfway through quests, and halfway through Shoppes. This is a time for us to formally recognize the accomplishments of our park members by honoring them with awards. Amtgard recognizes feats in the Arts & Sciences (crafting), garbing (clothing making), fighting, leadership, chivalry, and more! It's up to other park members to look out for such exemplary behavior and recommend their peers for awards, so it's vital that we maintain a sense of community and comradery in order to ensure we all get the praise we deserve.

We'll also be running our third Shoppe!

We're running a points-based reign right now which means that your actions earn you points which can then be exchanged for prizes. We have a total of 6 Shoppe days slotted throughout the next six months.

Here's something of note:

If you show up only to this day to try and score some neat swag, it's probably not going to work. What we're trying to do is encourage new players to stick around and see what Amtgard looks like over an extended time rather than the single impression they may get on any one day. As such, the cost of items are going to be a little higher than most people can rack up on one day.

A Little Info About Us

The Duchy of the Iron Mountains Amtgard group meets every Saturday at Berkeley Park in Denver, at the southeast corner of Berkley Park, at the corner of 46th Tennyson.

Games typically start around 1 p.m., with people trickling in throughout the day. Class-based battlegames usually kick off at about 2 p.m., maybe 3, and can run until 5 or 6 (or later if everyone's still having a great time).

Anyone 14 and older is welcome to show up anytime and we'll be happy to get you started swinging foam.

Here are a couple of Frequently Asked Questions regarding our Meetups

-What do I need to bring for my first time out?
At a minimum: yourself. At a maximum: bring some other friends. There's no real requirement other than coming and engaging with us on some level.

Otherwise, if you have any foam weapons, garb, etc., feel free to bring it along with you. There are rules as to what kinds of weapons we allow for play and we are able to verify whether or not any of your weapons meet the safety requirements of our game.

All participants are required to have a signed waiver to participate. We keep blank waivers handy at the park, but, if you're between the ages of 14 and 18, you might want to get a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian before coming out.

It may also be helpful to read the rules ahead of time, though it definitely isn't required in order for you to come out and play your first time around. You can download a copy of the Amtgard Rules of Play here: Amtgard Rules of Play V.8 (http://static.amtgard.com/documents/amtgard-rules-of-play-8.0.pdf)

-Is there an age restriction? / How old do I have to be to play?

The current minimum age is 14 years old, although we do make exceptions on a case-by-case basis if the parents/legal guardians are also present.

-Do you use any other method of communication?

We have a very active Facebook group:
Duchy of the Iron Mountains, Amtgard, Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/IronMountains/permalink/1134672079887403/?comment_id=1135630953124849&reply_comment_id=1135745883113356&notif_t=group_comment_reply&notif_id=1465439377577738)

A lot of our members communicate on this page and, once more involved, through a multitude of other Facebook pages which regularly discuss classes, Arts & Sciences (crafting), fighting, etc. We've been based on Facebook for quite a while and a lot of our people haven't migrated to Meetup yet, but we're working to make Meetup more engaging and meaningful.

-Who do I contact if I have any other questions?

You can message us here on Meetup (on the vertical banner to the left of the page, you can see a little envelope that says "Contact" beside it - just click that and we'll be able to respond directly to you and start a conversation) or by messaging us on Facebook via the page linked previously.
